01

Compare total cost, not the shelf tag

Convert using your card's likely exchange rate and include payment fees, shipping and any taxes or import charges that may apply when you return home. Tourist tax-refund eligibility and procedures vary by country and change; verify current rules with the official authority before relying on a refund.

02

Check warranty and after-sales support

Ask whether the warranty is international or limited to the country of purchase, when it begins and which service centres can honour it. Get the answer in writing. A lower foreign price can be offset by service, repair, language or return complications.

03

Understand destination rules

Rules depend on where you live, the item, how it is carried or shipped and your circumstances. Consult the destination customs authority for current declarations, allowances and import requirements. Do not rely on a retailer or travel forum as a legal source.

04

Protect the purchase and your trip

Keep the invoice, warranty card, grading report and item identifiers separate from the goods. Photograph condition before travel and use secure transport. For fragile or valuable purchases, confirm transit insurance and packing before leaving the boutique.
