01

Buying in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's dense retail landscape makes it easy to compare boutiques and authorised retailers in one trip. Start with the brand's official store locator, confirm local stock and appointment requirements, and get warranty and return terms in writing. Do not assume every independent shop or online seller is brand-authorised.

02

Second-hand and authenticity

Hong Kong has active pre-owned markets, but popularity also attracts misleading listings. The Customs and Excise Department advises consumers to buy from reputable shops or websites and to check with trademark owners or authorised agents if authenticity is in doubt. For a specific item, use independent, item-level assessment and a clear return window.

03

Care in a humid, rainy city

Plan for heat, humidity, sudden showers and air-conditioned interiors. Protect leather and fine jewellery from damp storage and cosmetics; have watch seals checked before water exposure. Ask where the nearest official service point is before making a high-value purchase.

04

Before carrying goods across a border

Import declarations and charges depend on destination, item and circumstances. Check the official customs authority for every country or region on your itinerary; a purchase receipt or tourist refund does not determine what is due at home.
